The Anglican Bishop of Ikeduru Diocese Rt Rev. Emmanuel Maduwuike has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to stop the plan to carry out another military operation in the South East and South South zones of Nigeria.
Speaking over the weekend on the security situation in Nigeria, the Bishop noted that the zones are known for their peaceful disposition and wandered why the areas had always been subjected to unnecessary military operation.
He pointed out that the effect of the previous exercise was still hurting the people.
According to him, internal security which includes maintenance of law and order was the exclusive duty of the Nigerian police.
He however, pleaded with the military to shelve the plan, noting that the people of the zone are peaceful and major players in the affairs of the country.
The Bishop also called on the international communities and lovers of peace and justice in Nigeria to as a matter of urgency investigate the alleged killings of about 38 persons suspected to be pro Biafran agitators in Ukwa Ngwa in Abia State during the last Operation Python Dance in the area.
He described the operation as a dance of death and prayed to God to intervene and save his people.
The Bishop who was on an Episcopal visit to Amaku in Orodo community in the Mbaitoli local Government area of IMO State warned Christians against seeking help from fake pastors and other men of God.
He said that it is only God who delivers his people through the blood of Jesus Christ and advised them to always offer prayers to God any time they are faced with challenges in stead of seeking the intervention of fake pastors.
The Bishop reminded Christians that Jesus Christ is the only solid foundation for families, the church and the society .
He warned that a faulty foundation yields faulty products in human life as stated in the Bible.
