Emir of Katsina has said environmental challenges pose serious health hazards within communities across the state.
The Emir stated this when he paid a homage to Governor Aminu Bello Masari as part of the activities marking the Eid-el-Kabir and the traditional Hawan Bariki held at Sa’idu Barda Old Government House, Katsina.
The Emir said open defection had contributed greatly to the spread of diseases through contamination.
He expressed recalled the earlier pledge by the United Nations Children Education Funds -UNICEF- to provide public conveniences and appealed for the redemption of the promise to enhance sanitary conditions in communities across the state.
The Emir spoke on the need for attitudinal change among people for a better and prosperous society.
He noted that no nation would remain in peace without punishing offenders to reduce perpetration of crimes.
While acknowledging the leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Bello Masari, the Emir assured of continued support and cooperation to the two leaders in their efforts to create a prosperous society.
