Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Tuesday declared that his .   administration  is now repositioning Oyo State after successfully transforming the state for better and will not  allow it to be an animal farm.

The governor stated this while speaking with newsmen at the Oyo State Government House after observing this year’s Eid El Kabir prayer at the Agodi-Gate praying ground in Ibadan.

He maintained that his administration was able to record all the major successes on ground in the state as a result of its firm approach to issues on development of Oyo State, saying, “we have succeeded as an administration because we adhere to law and order”.

“You will see that as a leader, anytime you want to make a change, some people, enlightened, unenlightened, ignorant, mischievous will play politics with them, but a good leader must have the courage to go ahead.

“If you remember the Great Prophet Mohammed, when he was talking about the Almighty God to the people, they sent him away from his home town. So, anytime we, as leaders, head of government are trying to make changes, people talked but we forged ahead no matter what they say,” he said.

Governor Ajimobi added “we will never allow this state to become a banana state. We will not allow it to be an animal farm. If you see any state that is doing well in the world, it is that they have rule of law and they obey them. Everybody must obey the law. So, we thank God that we succeeded because we have adhered to law and order”.

Speaking further, he stressed that having transformed the state and now repositioning it, the present administration in Oyo State is not ready to and  will never allow the state to go back to its gory state of brigandage and violence or let it to turned t ‘banana island’ of ‘animal farm’. by ensuring that he continued to serve ” humanity rightly without persecuting anybody but with the fear of God and respect for rule of law.” as witnessed  in the last seven years of his administration.

The governor emphasized that he was never for once moved by the noises that trailed many development policies and efforts embarked upon by his administration towards transforming and repositioning Oyo State, saying, many of those who abused and insulted him while introducing the policies are now praise singing and applauding him over those policies particularly in areas like education, socio-cultural, infrastructure, peace and security, agriculture, urban renewal, health among others

” I think we must give glory to the Almighty God for his goodness and greatness. God has been very kind to us. We started over seven years ago and by whatever standard or yardstick you are using, our administration has surpassed any previous administration in all ramification, be it in education, health infrastructure, be it in socio economic development, industrialization, agriculture and all activities of human endeavours and we have done very well, by all yardstick”

He pointed out that by the time his administration came into power in Oyo state, ” we met a state at the precipies and we needed to have a turnaround and in turning it around, we decided to have as our tripod of restoration that is to restore the old glory. When you restore, you must now transform. We have restored. We have transformed. And now we are repositioning and repositioning is always work in progress. You can never stop repositioning. Wherever we stop, somebody else will pick it up from there.”

“We have restored peace and security to the state and today, Oyo State is one of the safest states in Nigeria. If at all, since we came in, we have recorded very few bank robberies and it has been a thing of the past. Today, everybody could go through Iwo Road, Beere, Molete, Challenge and all these all hot spots have now become very cool spot.

“All the red light areas are now the green light areas. So, for peace and security, we have achieved much. After that,  we say we built infrastructure and you can see all around the state. We are not just doing roads, we are doing urban renewals, old roads are been expanded and new roads are been built.

“Apart from that we have social infrastructure and physical infrastructure. Physically, people can see. The social infrastructure we are doing is changing the mindset and training the people, exposing the, enlightening them and with all that, we can say also that health is also social infrastructure, water supply and we want to say that in the history of Oyo State, our health programme has been commended by all and sundry.

“Not only in Oyo State but also in other places. Look at our educational programmes, when we started our education restructuring, children were going round prompted by mischievous teachers, unenlightened teachers accusing me that I have bought schools and calling me all sort of names but today, the same teachers are commending us.”

He maintained that what is Important about leadership, is that a ” leader must not only be able to envision, you must have the courage to implement those visions.

“He must do what is right regardless of the noise around you and I as a governor I will not allow Oyo State to be taken back to those dark ages and bad politics, no.
I believe that we have succeeded in the areas of education and you can see for yourself. And you will see that as a leader, anytime you want to make a change, some people, enlightened, unenlightened, ignorant,” he added.

Acknowledging that his administration could not have achieve anything without the help of God and the  support of people of Oyo state, Governor Ajimobi said
“e thank God for helping us because there hasn’t been anyone who spent eight years even from the days of Western region, and if it has pleased God to give eight years, out of which we have spent 7years and 2months, its not that we are wiser than those who were there before but we give him praise.”

“The lesson I learnt from the sojourn in the last seven years that we have been running the government is that, one needs to fear God. If one fears God no matter the curses placed on him, so long he is working for prayer, such curse can never have effect on him and if someone does what deserve curses and when people pray for such an individual, the prayer cannot work for such a person. For me, no matter the curses, it can never affect me because I know I am working for prayers and not curses and I am serving the people wholeheartedly and I am happy that God will give us success.”
