Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Osun State for the September 22 election, Senator Iyiola Omisore on Monday felicitated with Muslims in and across the state on this year’s Eid El Kabir celebrations .
The Osun SDP governorship candidate in his Sallah message issued by his Media Team also charged Muslims in and across Osun State especially the Imams and the Alfas while celebrating the Eid El Kabir commit Osun State in the hands of Allah for the election of a sincere and patriotic leader come September 22, this year.
Senator Omisore emphasized that with few weeks to the Osun State governorship polls, “there is the need for the people of the state , particularly the Muslims to seek divine intervention on the need for a ” free, fair, crisis free and acceptable election in the state”.
“Let me use this period to congratulate our Muslims leaders, brothers and Sisters, the Imams, Alfas and the entire Muslim fateful for witnessing this year’s Eid El Kabir celebrations. The period, no doubt, is an holy one to move closer to the Almighty Allah and as well seek God’s favour for our dear state most especially on the September, 22 governorship election,” he said.
The SDP standard bearer emphasized that the lessons of Eid El Kabir, “which is obedience and trust in Allah should continue to be the guiding principles for the people of Osun State at this period of deciding who runs the affairs of the state, (Governor) in the coming years after the expiration of the tenure of office of the incumbent, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola later this year.”
“As we are fast approaching the governorship election in our dear Osun State, I am again urging our people, particularly the political class to play the game according to the laid down rules and regulations guiding the conduct of the election. On the part of our religious leaders, it is now time for the to be preaching peace and the need for the coming election to be free and fair. “
The SDP governorship candidate then asked Muslim faithful and the religious leaders in and across the state to remember in their prayers those that are in the holy land to perform this year’s hajj as well as those at home including the ruling class both at the local, state and Federal levels.
Senator Omisore also used the opportunity to reassure the people of Osun State to charge the fortune of the state for better by embarking on people oriented policies as well as given the much needed welfare of the civil servants and the entire people of the state if elected as the next governor of Osun State come September, 22 election.
The former deputy governor of the state then advised Muslims across Osun State and even outside the state to be moderate, law abiding and promoters of peace and unity in and around that nooks and crannies of the state before, during and after the September, 22, governorship election in the state.
