Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State and the leadership of the legislature in the state have paid glowing tributes to Nigeria’s former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida who turned 77 years on Friday.
The duo in separate congratulatory messages to the former military President, described him as a father whose impacts were greatly being felt and appreciated across the state and country at large.
Governor Sani Bello said Babangida has continued to demonstrate great statesmanship, patriotism and fatherly roles in his contributions to promoting national unity, integration and development.
He added that Babangida was a great source of courage, a flowing river of inspiration and a role model whose excellent years of service to the nation remain exemplary to many leaders and upcoming generations.
Governor Sani Bello noted that the history of Nigeria cannot be complete without the acknowledgement of the impactful eight years tenure of General Babangida and in his private life since he left office.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Marafa Gunni had in his message of felicitation to the former military President, said General Babangida is an icon whose contributions to national development and growth are unparalleled in the history of Nigeria.
He noted that the exemplary leadership and life style of the former military leader would continue to draw encomiums from across the world.
While praying for longevity of life to the former military President, Speaker Marafa Gunni said Nigeria would continue to rellay on the wise counsels and meticulous advice from IBB.
He felicitated with Babangida even as he urged the celebrant to continue to offer suggestions on the way forward for Nigeria to grow and develop as one united country.
He extended the collective goodwill of members of the state’s legislature to General Babangida saying the state was proud to be associated with the celebrant and his family as he marks his 77th birthday anniversary.
He prayed God to give IBB good health and strength in the coming years so that Nigeria and the rest of humanity would continue to benefit from his uncommon wisdom, knowledge and experience in life.
