Police Apprehend 2 Traffic Robbery Kingpins In Lagos

Nemesis has caught up with two notorious traffic robbery kingpins in Lagos, as they were at the weekend nabbed by police operatives during a robbery attack.
Identified as David Mike Okon, 32 years and Ibe Okonne, 27 years, the suspected bandits were said to have been arrested by  undercover operatives of the raider team attached to Area “E” Command on 11th of August, 2018 while robbing a lady identified simply as Oluwatosin around Mile 2.
Our correspondent reliably learnt that the duo are members of a notorious traffic robbery gang that had been terrorising road users along Maza Maza/Mile 2.
It was also gathered that members of the gang had been on the watch list of the command  following reports by victims of their attacks.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos Command. CSP Chile Oti confirmed the arrest in a release made available to journalists on Tuesday.
 He stated that the undercover operatives from the Command were posted to provide security for commuters along that route following the nefarious activities of the hoodlums.
According to Oti, the bandits had succeeded in dispossessing the victim of her phone and other valuables before they were arrested by the eagle eyed policemen, who observed uneasiness in the woman’s encounter with the suspects.
” The two robbers, David Mike Okon, 32 years and Ibe Okonne, 27 years, who had been on the watch list of the command  were arrested on the 11th of August, 2018 while robbing a lady identified simply as Oluwatosin around Mile 2.
They had succeeded in dispossessing the victim of her phone and other valuables before they were arrested by the eagle eyed policemen attached to Raider team, Area E Command, Festac town, who had observed uneasiness in the woman’s encounter with the suspects”, the statement reads.
The police image maker hinted that the suspects in their statements to the police owned up to the crime, adding that the stolen items have been returned to the owner.
He further stated that the CP Lagos  Command Edgal Imohimi has deployed additional teams of undercover operatives and motorised patrol teams to beef up security in the area to forestall further occurrence.
