Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Monday disclosed that he did not drive High Chief Rashidi Ladoja out of the party.
Engineer Makinde who said this during an interaction with newsmen held at his Omituntun office Conference hall in Ibadan on Monday said High Chief Ladoja remains his political father.
The PDP governorship aspirant emphasized that he made lots of efforts at reaching out to High Chief Ladoja to ensure that he still remain with the PDP in Oyo state.
” I am disappointed that High Chief Rashidi Ladoja left the PDP. I made lots of efforts to reach out to Baba (High Chief Ladoja) not to leave PDP. He is my political father and there is no way a son can drive out his Baba from his abode”, he said.
Emphasizing that there was a minor disagreement over the PDP congresses within the party in Oyo state, Engineer Makinde said, ” we tried our best to pacify Baba, and we will continue to reach out to Baba , may be he might have a rethink”
” I am from a humble family in Ibadan. I even prostrated for Baba Ladoja with my chest of the ground. He is my father politically, We will continue to reach out to Baba”.
Speaking further, the PDP governorship aspirant hinted that despite the exit of the High Chief Ladoja from the party, PDP in Oyo state is still very much intact in the state and remains the only party to beat come 2019 general elections.
The PDP leading governorship aspirant stressed that contrary to the insinuation by some people that PDP is now an empty political party in Oyo state , the party is waxing stronger on daily basis as more people are now joining the party while some of those that defected recently are already returning to PDP.
Butressing his words Engineer Makinde declared that as at present, 80 percent of the party’s Local Government Chairmen across the state are still in the PDP while 90 percent of the party’s State Executive members remained intact with the party.
