Emir of Katsina Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman has directed district and village heads to ensure success of cassava farming in their domain.
Alhaji Kabir Usman gave the directive when he received the foreign investors, national and state officials of Nigeria Cassava Growers Association of Nigeria on a courtesy visit in his palace.
Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir who appreciated with the agricultural policies of Katsina and Federal Governments assured to provide all the needed support to move the state forward.
He disclosed that the programme would create job opportunities to teaming youths in the state and reduce youth restiveness in the society.
The Emir revealed that with the establishment of cassava processing plants in the state, the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of the state would be improved.
Earlier, the National President of the Association Professor Segun Adewunmi enumerated some of the economic derives of cassava which include ethanol, industrial starch, flour and sweetener among others.
Also speaking, two foreign investors from India Mr. Rajasekar Rajavelu and Mr. Danny Vaswani expressed confidence in investing on cassava processing companies in Katsina State.
A Technocrat, Mr. Toyin Bankole said Nigeria described as the largest Cassava producing country in Africa and assured full support to cassava farmers in Katsina State.
In a remark, the State Chairman of Cassava Grower Association, Alhaji Hassan Yunusa Yanmarke commended the Federal and State Governments as well as the two Emirate Councils of Katsina and Daura for their support to the successful implementation of the programme.
