INEC Set For Obudu State Constituency Bye-Election On August 11th

The Cross River State Resident Electoral Commissioner,  Dr.  Frankland O. Btiyai, said INEC is set to conduct a free and credible bye elections into the Obudu State Constituency in Cross River come August 11, 2018.
He made this assertion in Calabar yesterday while briefing party representatives and the media on the arrangement  made to ensure a smooth and violent free elections.
According to him,  “INEC will not tolerate any form of violence before and during the elections. We have made adequate security arrangements to ensure that voters come out enmass to cast their votes “.
He warned against any form of violence, adding ” INEC shall not take it kindly with any party found violating the Electoral process “.
Btiyai said that the four political parties will be participating in the election will take place in 117 units in 10 wards with over 74,363 eligible voters casting their votes.
Also he announced that over 700adhoc staff shall be engaged in the exercise with two smart card machines attached to each unit.  In addition,  technical support team will be handy to solve any fault dictated while the election is on.
He further stated that all personnel to be engaged in thr excerise have all been trained accordingly and assured  the parties not to entertain any fear.
Those  includes,  Agwupuye,  John Umeka of African Democratic Congress (ADC),  Ishamali A.  Bendebel (APC),  Awafang Clement Angiating of Mega party of Nigeria (MPN) and Ukpukpen  Abbey  Awara of thr Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However,  it was reported that two of the political party supporters clashed on Wednesday leaving several property destroyed.
As at the time of filling this report there was no record of loss of life but several persons sustained severe injuries.
