The Presidency said on Wednesday that the sack of Director General of the Department of State Service ( DSS) Lawal Daura by Acting President ,Yemi Osinbajo had the full consent of President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, after the Federal Fxecutive Council meeting presided over by the Acting President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Stating that the Presidency is one, Adesina noted that the president had duly transmitted power to his vice in line with the constitutional provision before embarking on his London holiday.
He said: “What we will like to say for the umpteenth time is that the presidency is one. Whenever the President is proceeding on vacation, he transmits power to the Vice President, who then becomes, the Acting President. On this occasion he also did that.
“So the Acting President has all the powers of a president. Now it’s a matter of decency and we know that the Acting President is a decent man, there is no tussle for power; there is no turf battle between him and the president.
“When something like what happened yesterday will happen, there then will be unanimity. There is no way there won’t be unanimity on that kind of decision. It’s not something that will be discussed with the press but know that there was unanimity in the decision.”
Osinbajo had on Tuesday directed the termination of the appointment of the DG DSS Daura with immediate effect.
Daura’s sack was a direct fallout of the invasion of the National Assembly by DSS officials.
The move was said to have embarrassed the Presidency which swiftly fired the DSS boss in an unprecedented manner know to this current administration.
