Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello of Niger State on Wednesday shunned Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki as the later breezed into Minna on a visit to former military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his Hilltop residence.
Senator Bukola Saraki who must have flown to Minna immediately after he had addressed a world press conference in Abuja, arrived at the Minna Airport at about 3:55pm aboard a private aircraft.
Governor Sani Bello who was in his office, since the early afternoon hours, however dispatched his commissioner for Investment, Mahmood Mundi to receive the Senate President at the airport.
At the time of the arrival of the Senate President, governor Sani Bello who was presiding over the state’s weekly Executive Council, (SEC) meeting at the Government House, hurriedly rounded up the meeting and left for Abuja thus tactfully avoided the Senate President.
The Senate President on arrival at Babangida’s residence, was immediately ushered into the private sitting room of the former Military President where they discussed behind closed doors.
Senator Bukola was led by a long motorcades of vehicles with seven Prado Jeeps and two Hillux Vans occupied by security details.
All routes from the Minna airport
through to the IBBs’ Hilltop residence had security agents comprising
regular Police men and plain clothed security men on sentry, providing security along the routes.
Journalists who got wind of the visit, rushed to the Hilltop residence of Babangida but were not allowed inside the house to interview the Senate President even as all efforts to get his attention proved abortive.
Security details attached to the residence of Babangida’s house told
journalists who were eagerly waiting to interview Saraki to leave the premises
because the Senate President was on a private visit and will not entertain any interview.
