Former federal permanent secretary and aspirant to the Bauchi South senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Safiya Ilyasu Mohammed has thrown her weight behind the party’s candidate to the August 11, 2018 bye-election.
“When there is a contest, there would be a winner and a loser. Ten of us went into APC primaries for the bye-election, one of us emerged winner, all of us are APC loyalists. I therefore call on all of us to unanimously support the winner of the just concluded party primary election”, Safiya said.
Dr. Safiya Ilyasu at a press conference in Bauchi, in the build-up to the 11th August, 2018 bye-election commended the leadership of Governor Mohammed Abubakar in the state, and called on her teeming supporters to come out en-masse for the bye-election with a view to electing the APC candidate.
“We want development to continue in our country and we have all seen how the APC government in the state performed in the past three years, so leave differences aside, let live together to for a solid foundation to move the party forward”, she said.
Safiya also drew the attention of her fellow contestants to give their support so as to move the state forward and make APC the party to beat in Nigeria, while urging all electorates to do the needful to have a free and fair bye-election for APC to emerge the winner.
. Ilyasu said however that she will contest in the 2019 general elections when the time comes for it.
