The Kano State Executive Council has approved the release of N933, 947, 868.00 million for the settlement of tuition fees, allowances for state sponsored students in overseas and local universities.
The state commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano.
He said the amount covered tuition/accommodation fees amounting to $38, 050.00 dollars and N71, 067, 750.00 and upkeep allowances for undergraduate sponsored students in China, Uganda and India, payment of tuition fees and upkeep allowances for Kano state sponsored students in five private universities as at February 2018 amounting to N776, 326, 018 million.
Other payments, the statement added are payment of tuition fees for indigent students under state government and French Embassy Scholarship Programme put at $390, 462.14 and N8, 500, 000, 000.00 respectively.
Malam Garba said other approvals under the education sector include N19, 800. 000.00 on and N52, 201, 333.94 million for settlement of outstanding fees for 66 leather trainees and manpower training respectively, as well as N30, 000, 000.00 assistance fund for the completion of Jumu’at mosque construction project at new campus of Bayero University, Kano.
He said the council also approved the releases of N202, 501, 000.00 for training of the third batch of auto-mechanics trainees; $230, 000.00 dollars state counterpart funding of the federal government assisted 3rd urban water sector reform project.
The commissioner said N45, 090, 154.40 million approval has been given for the rehabilitation of Bashir Dalhatu road; tackling flooding problem at the underpass junction connecting Sheikh Jafar/Sharada/Panshekara/
