Three Undergraduates In Court Over Murder Of Fellow Student

Two undergraduate students of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai in Niger State and an undergraduate student of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna State have appeared before a Minna Senior Magistrate Court for alleged manslaughter, culpable homicide and conspiracy.
The three are Shehu Abdullahi, Jibrin Attahiru and Idris Usman. They are before the court on charges of conspiracy and murder of a fellow student of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai.
Shehu Abdullahi is a history student of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria while the two others are students of the IBBU Lapai.
The trio were said to have beaten and killed another student, Mubarak Sanusi. Mubarak Sanusi was until his death a student of the institution.
The accused were said to have forcefully taken Mubarak Sanusi to their student lodge at Cheche village where they tortured and beat him for allegedly stealing a HTC phone valued at N35,000 belonging to one of them.
The accused persons had after realising that the victim had become limb, they carried him  out and were on their way to a hospital when he gave up the ghost.
The trio later attempted to dump the victim but were rounded up.
The Police report said the victim died as a result of the beatings he received from the three. Mubarak had passed out while the accused persons were taking him to hospital for medical treatment.
The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to the charges when the senior Magistrate, Fatima Auna read the charges to them.
The Margestrate asked counsel to the accused persons to apply for bail from the state High Court saying the Margestrate court has no jurisdiction to entertain the case.
The presiding Magistrate however fixed the 3rd of next month for further mention on the case.
