Don’t Violate Electoral Laws, Ajiko Urges Supporters

One of the gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Dr. Aji Kolomi (Ajiko) has called on his supporters to adhere strictly to electoral laws by not pasting posters, saying the campaigns have not yet started.

“I have learnt with dismay how some people out of love are pasting my campaign posters in some local governments of Yobe State, including the state capital, Damaturu.  It is however preposterous and hasty for individuals to erect billboards or print posters at this early stage”

Ajiko in a press statement to journalists said, “electoral law stipulates that campaigns into elective positions should begin 90 days before polling day and end 24 hours prior to the election”.

“Section 99, sub section 1 and 2 of the electoral act 2010 spelt out clearly penalties for individuals campaigning in the open 90 days before or 24 hours to an election”, the statement read in part.

While appreciating concerns of his teaming supporters, he therefore urged them to refrain from such as law abiding citizens and play the game by the rules.
