Forty five (45) under privileged students selected from Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola, and Adamawa State University, Mubih ave been awarded scholarship support of N100,000 each.
The support which was provided by the Chinese Government was to show the commitment of Chinese government to partner with Nigeria in education and many field of endeavour.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Moddibo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian said the measure was to mark the 47 year bilateral relationship between China and Nigeria.
The Vice Chancellor of MAUTECH, Prof Mohammed Kyari appreciated the Chinease government for the support, which would go a long way in assisting the students.
Kyari said the university has similar support programme for intelligent underprivileged students and urged for more support for the programme from organizations and philanthropists.
The vice chancellor who was represented by Prof. Abraham Mokolo also solicited for China’s support to the institution particularly in areas of technology.
While thanking the Chinese government for the support, Mr Julius Kadala, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Education, said the state government was committed to education and had already declared state of emergency on education.
Convener of the programme who is also the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Nigeria/China Relations, Yusuf Buba of Hong/Gombi Federal Constituency, urged beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by being more serious in there studies.
Similarly, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian has lauded the chairman House of Representatives Committee on Nigeria/China Relation, Rep. Yusuf Buba (APC-Hong/Gombi) for effectively contributing in transforming his constituency.
Pingjian made the commendation in his speech at the inauguration of some empowerment projects in Hong and Gombi local government areas executed by the lawmaker.
He urged the people of the constituency to make proper utilization of the projects and facilities provided.
Inaugurating the project, Gov. Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindow, commended the lawmaker for quality representation and initiation of people oriented projects with direct bearing on his people.
Bindow who was represented by Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh urged other lawmakers to emulate Buba in complementing the government effort in area of providing dividends of democracy to the electorates.
In his remarks, Buba thanked the people of his constituency for the support and cooperation accorded him to serve them and assured them of sustain quality representation and dividends of democracy.
The support provided included 310 boreholes, 270 vehicles, two feeder roads with bridge, six block of classrooms and tools for 800 trained entrepreneurs for maximum benefit.
