Two persons have reportedly died in Lagos, with another seriously injured as a moving train collided with a stationed commercial bus.
The incident, as learnt, occurred Friday at the railway crossing at Pen Cinema, in.Agege area of the state at about 8.57am.
The General Manager Lagos State Emergwncy Management Agency (LASEMA) Mr Adesina Tiamiyu made the disclosure in a statement made available to journalists.
He explained that the victims were among the various passengers that were hanging on the train, adding that they fell off as a result of the collision.
Tiamiyu, who described the victims as male adults, said the one with injury has been transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), while the corpses of the deceased have been taken to mortuary by personnel of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SHEMU).
The LASEMA boss therefore advised passengers about the overall safety measures to put in place before boarding train and also urged them to desist from hanging on moving train to avoid unnecessary loss of lives in the State.
The statement reads, ” The Agency received a distress call on Friday 20th of July, 2018 at about 8.57 am via the emergency toll free number on
passenger train that collided with a parked commercial bus forcing the 3 of the hanging passengers fall off the moving train by crossing at Pen Cinema linking Iju Road.
One adult sustained injuries and was transferred to LASUTH, unfortunately 2 other adult male lost their lives and has been taken to mortuary by State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit SHEMU.Other responders includes Nigeria Police force ( Railway police division) ,LASAMBUS, LASTMA, Civil Defence Corps, RRS, LASG Task force, LASG fire service ( AGEGE division), NAF OPS MESA , VIO were at the scene.
