NGO Commissions Yobe Office, Targets 1,000 Youths On Peace Building

In an effort to bring a lasting in the Northeast, a Non-Governmental Organization, Hope Interactive has commissioned its Yobe office targeting 1,000 youths on peace building.

Commissioning the new office complex in Damaturu on Thursday, the Coordinator, West African Development Conciliation Resources, United Kingdom, Janet Adama Mohammed said, success cannot be possible without cooperation; she therefore, called on the NGO to partner with the youth and the traditional leaders to be able to repair the broken relationship caused by the insurgency and work towards preventing conflict.

“You should carry everybody along by building the capacity of the youth to be able to identify solutions to the challenges they are into it”

In his remarks, the Executive Director, Hope Interactive, Barka Danladi said, initially the office was located at Kaduna but looking at challenges of insurgency prompted them to open the Yobe office.

“We moved here considering the challenges our people are passing through.  We hope to achieve a society which is free from violence and also free from every form of poverty, that’s the major reason of commissioning the Yobe office and so far we have engaged 760 youths from Potiskum, Damaturu and Geidam”

 New Nigerian also gathered, the NGO is also aimed at seeking ways of healing and reconciling the victims of the insurgency after passing through challenges, therefore working towards discouraging the drug abuse among youth and promote education which is bedrock of every developed society. 

There were goodwill messages by the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Yobe State, representative of Nigeria Police Force and traditional leaders.
