Flood Claims 38 Lives, Leaves 200 Houses Destroyed In Katsina

About 38 persons died and over two hundred houses were destroyed as flood ravages in Jibiya Local Government    Area of Katsina State.
The rain which started about 11 Pm on Sunday lasted till 1 am yesterday forcing river banks into overflow. Communities affected  are;  Kwata,Tukare,Sabuwar,Dan tudu,  Tsohuwar Tukare and Anguwar Mai  Kwari displacing many residents from their homes and shops.
A food vendor,  Halima Zubairu Jibiya and her two children are among the 38 persons who lose their lives  as the flood  swept away her container shop which was around Sabuwar Mosque as they were trapped in it because they hid their.
Alhaji   Rabe Rabi’u   the   District Head of Jibiya confirmed the  development   and described it as extremely devastating. He stated that though some dead bodies were found, many still remain untraceable. Over 260 cows,sheep’s and goats also died in the flood, he said.
The district head  appealed to government   to aid them  assessing the situation as being     beyond   the community’s financial capability.
