A trader, Shuaibu Salisu Udawa on Saturday narrated how he narrowly escaped from being kidnapped by armed robbers along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.
The incident happened around 6:30 pm on Friday along Buruku town few kilometres away from kaduna metropolis.
The trader told New Nigerian how the car he was travelling in was shot at by the armed robbers.
” We were two inside the Golf 3 vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Udawa along Birnin Gwari Highway when they ( robbers) opened fire on the car and the bullet hits the tyre which made the vehicle to somasulted
“ When it finally stopped inside the bush.I didn’t even know what happened or how I came out of the car because there was confusion everywhere.
‘ But I Remembered seen myself closed to of one of the bandits who was holding a gun. He asked me to remain on the floor but out of fear I stood up and ran into the bush.
” He shot at me but missed his target. I kept running and falling without knowing where I was running to until I got to a place called Unguwar Yaku.
” I passed the night at the forest closed to Unguwar Yaku village in the morning I waited by the roadside where I saw a Thriller passing by I waved the Driver and he stopped. That was Today (saturday) and brought me to my village Udawa,” he said.
Asked about the kind of people that attacked them he said ” They are fulanis because I saw them with my eye,” he said.
Asked about the driver of the Gulf 3 vehicle Shuaibu said their attackers took him away.
” When they open fire on our car they took away the driver Muhammadu but as I told you I ran away into the bush.
Asked if he saw other people been attacked by the gunmen, he said ” Yes I saw three other people lying on the floor beside their cars, I also saw a driver of a thriller being shot at as he stopped,” he said.
The Trader counted himself to be lucky as he got reunited with his wives and children at his home town Udawa.
” I thank God for serving my life from those people but the truth remains, our lives are in danger we that lived around this route!” he said.
He urged security agencies to come to their rescue along route.
