About 500 farmers in Bauchi State are to benefit from the state government’s agricultural tractors loan facility, courtesy of the official visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state on Thursday.
The state commissioner of Information, Umar Ibrahim Sade disclosed that farmers would be loaned the agricultural tractors at a rate of N15 million per unit with the instant down payment of 10% of the total cost.
Sade told a press briefing in Bauchi Tuesday that during the visit, President Muhammadu Buhari is also expected to commission a number road projects in Bauchi metropolis.
The President during the visit is also expected to commission an Ultra referral hospital built and fully equipped by the Nigerian Air Force at the Force Special Command Base in Bauchi
It would be recalled that the Bauchi state government quite recently signed a partnership agreement for the provision of 500 agricultural tractors by the Hakar Engineering Limited for distribution to farmers through public-private-partnership arrangement.
The agreement with the Hakar Engineering Limited, tagged “Subsidized Agricultural Tractorization Ownership Programme,” involves the supply of five hundred, 75hp tractors, fully equipped with plough, ridges, harrow and trailers to be sold to farmers
The commissioner explained that the 500 agricultural tractors are to be distributed to registered farmers and farmers’ cooperatives in the state on loan to be repaid over a period of three years.
It is also expected that President Buhari would while ending the day-long Bauchi visit proceed to the United States of America at the invitation of President Donald Trump, enroute Morocco on similar official visit to that African country.
