Ayo Odiah emerged champion of the 2nd BTL Solutions American Tournament decided at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.
Odiah, a former Nigeria junior player in the 90s, beats 31 others which include 26 men to cart home the top prize with 23 points.
“I’m very happy because this is the first time I’m winning any of the American tournaments that I have played at this club. However, I’m not surprised I won because I have stepped up my training since the start of the year. I prepared well and I deserved to win,” she said.
Ayo Oludemi came second with 20 points while Kola Sofola was third with 19 points.
Nimota Omope, another former national junior player, came fourth with 18 points becoming the second female to finish in the top-ten completed by Emmanuel Agabator and Sylvernus Iroegbe (both 17 points); Joro Olateru-Olagbegi and Abayomi Osibanjo (both 16 points); Femi Ifedayo 15 points, Arinze Onubogu and Femi George (both 14 points).
Section Chairman, Arinze Onubogu commended BTL Solutions, which has the section captain Segun Aluko as Managing Director.
He pointed that the section has been the most active since Aluko became the captain.
American tournament is a format where players accumulate points playing with different doubles partner.
