Director/CEO of Urgent Motors, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi, has expressed confidence that his team will go all out and win the maiden trophy of the Kaduna Car Dealers Peace and Unity Soccer Competition.
He boasted about this while speaking to newsmen at his office in Mogadishu Layout, Kaduna on Thursday evening, when asked what is expected from his team Urgent Motors as they file out to square up with Musaco Motors in the opener on Saturday, he said that he has confidence in his players.
“I have watched my team train and also watched their friendly matches with other teams and I believe the trophy is ours,” he said.
He however said that with the aim of the competition targeted at ensuring unity among car dealers in the state, even if his team fails to lift the trophy, he will not be disappointed.
“This competition is not all about win at all costs, but one for unity and friendship. We are looking forward to exciting moments from all teams and not to outdo each other through unhealthy rivalry,” he said.
Alhaji Abdullahi charged all teams competing to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid deliberately injuring their opponents through hard tackles.
“The officials should be honest. It is not a do-or-die affair. The teams should play with spirit of sportsmanship, they should not wound each other,” he charged.
The Director of Urgent Motors, who is also the co-organiser alongside the Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) also expressed optimism that it would be an annual event, with the next edition expected to feature more teams from all the local government areas of the state.
The opening game is billed for the main bowl of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium by 4:15 pm.
