Abubakar al-Sadique, who did not give the actual number of civil servants on the state payroll, also disclosed that the verification committee further discovered that 28 multiple accounts are linked to valid BVN.
He said that Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar had thanked civil servants, pensioners and their unions for supporting government and showing understanding to the verification exercise.
The media aide assured that all those behind the ghost workers on the state payroll will face full wrath of the law, and monies saved from the verification exercise will be channeled to other meaningful public services.
He said Government has continued the payment of salaries of workers that were not earlier paid owing to the ongoing verification exercise which revealed a vast number of ghost workers that have been siphoning the state treasure.
Among those who received their salaries from last Monday are teachers who received salaries for the months of January and February and state pensioners who were paid February pensions.
The payment which mainly affected teachers as well as workers who operate accounts with Micro Finance Banks, is ongoing as Government establishes desks for continuous verification of all civil servants, teachers and pensioners that have not been verified and authenticated.
