Minister of Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Bello has given an indication that no land grabber in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would escape the wrath of the law.
Speaking at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abuja, he revealed that he was appointed to uphold the law and he would not deviate from doing so.
According to him, “You know the beauty of Abuja as a city is that it is the only city in Nigeria that is a creation of the law and of course we have been appointed to uphold the law”.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Ministers of the FCT, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Bala Mohammed and some key members of the National Assembly were said to be allocated land in the FCT without recourse to due process.
The Minister said “on issues like this, is just to look at what the law said and then of course we apply the law appropriately because obviously we are a government that cares for law and order”
According to him, the whole issue of law is to have justice and equity, which usually place everyone equal before the law. “Basically the whole issue of law is to have what we call equity and justice and usually once you say justice and equity you found that everybody under the law is equal.
He said. “the law is supposed to protect people, to protect the lowly people, the middle level people, the highly placed people man and woman that is what law is all about and we are here to apply the law.
The minister who said he visited the party secretariat to see the National Chairman Odigie Oyegun, however told journalists that the Match 19 Area Council election in Abuja was part of the discussion they had with the party chairman.
“One of the main areas of my discussion with our leader the National Chairman of our party is of course the forthcoming Area Council Election, which as you know is coming up on the 19th of March and as you know all our party members at all levels starting from the ward level have keyed-in to the campaign and have commence campaign and I have briefed the National Chairman of the party of how far we have gone and naturally as a political party of course we expect to win all the area council.
