Residents of Kwadaru village in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State took the laws into their hands when they confronted some kidnappers who stormed the village by killing one of them.
The group of kidnappers has been tormenting the people in the area for some times but met the resistance of the villagers on Monday night when their attempted kidnapping was foiled and one of them was killed.
A witness in whose community the incident occurred, told journalists in Kaduna that the angry locals also burnt the captured kidnapper before security agencies got to the scene.
The villager, Mohammed Tanko said, “The kidnappers came to the village armed with dangerous weapons on Monday night and started shooting sporadically in an attempt to kidnap some women in a particular house.
“The people mobilized themselves against the kidnappers and the whole village repelled them. In the process, they captured one of them and killed him. They also set his body ablaze in a mob action while the rest escaped.
“The security agencies came to the village and started trailing the escapees to the forest.”
The spokesperson to the governor on media and publicity, Samuel Aruwan could not be reach for further comment but it will be recalled that the Special Squad against Kidnapping in the state comprising the military and Police last week freed four young girls abducted by kidnappers in Kateri, Kachia Local Government of the state.
