Kaduna Community organises Peace Carnival

Ungwan Kudu, a surbub of the metropolis in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State came alive on Thursday, as youths of the community rolled-out drums to celebrate the Ungwan Kudu Carnival for Peace and Unity.
The carnival, which was tagged “Ungwan Kudu Carnival for Peace and Unity” was the maiden edition, which the organisers assured would be an annual event.

Speaking to newsmen at the event, Coordinator of the Ungwan Kudu Youth Forum, Mr. Gideon Yohana Duniya said that, the purpose of the carnival is for the promotion of peace, unity and to also maintain the peaceful co-existence of the diverse ethnic groups living in the community.

According to him, Ungwan Kudu is a community housing people of diverse culture and adherent of various faiths, and that organing a carnival like this will bring the people together to interact with one another, as such  peaceful co-existence would be guaranteed.

“You can see how joyful the people are, both Christian and Muslims and people of diverse culture and tribes are all dancing together with the banner of peace we are carrying, it tells you the aim of this gathering” he stressed.

Also speaking, another youth leader in the community, Ike Oyih said the carnival will be a yearly events and that the youth of the community intends to make it big and encourage other well-meaning Nigerians to support the carnival as a way of promoting tourism in the area.

On his part, Reuben Ayuba also enjoined adherent of various religions in the community and the state at large to learn how to accommodate one another for the sake of peace.

He said: “we were living in peace with one another in the past and we should revive the spirit of the old, which event like this will prepare ground for peaceful co-existence, which the state and the country need for the necessary development of the nation.

The carnival saw youths, Children and the elderly in the community dancing  round the various traditional rulers in the community singing songs that promote peace,  joyfully and with great enthusiasm.
