Nigerian Army warns Biafra agitators

The Nigerian Army has warned any group threatening the Unity of the nation and particularly those agitating for the actualization Biafra.
The General Officer Commanding 3rd Division, Major General Hassan Umaru who addressed a press Conference in Jos, said the troops will not hesitate to crush such internal revolt.
“The Nigerian Army would like to send unequivocal warning to all and sundry, more specifically to those threatening for the dismemberment of the country, committing reasonable felony and arson, as well as wanton destruction of lives and properties.”
According to him, “the Army will not watch the security situation deteriorate leading to loss of lives or damage to property without intervening”.
He noted that such Operation would be within the ambit of the code of Conduct for internal Security Operation and Rule of Engagement.
The GOC maintained that the situation will not be allowed to escalate further. He further warned Officer and Soldiers “not to take sides in any Conflict and if found wanting would face the consequences of their action.
“Any officer or soldier found aiding or abetting any act of arson, vandalism or unprofessional conduct, would be severely dealt with according to the extent of the law”.
On the Presidential order to finally crush Boko Haram before December, the GOC who is currently in the North-East explained that morale of the troops is now high, saying that “they believed in action then talking”.
