Taraba Guber Judgement; 6 persons killed in Wukari

No fewer than six persons including two teenage boys were killed in Wukari town of Taraba State when armed militia men attacked a quarters at mid night.
A resident of the area Alhaji Ladan told our reporter on telephone that they were awaken by gunfire at about 1:00 am last night. He said the attackers invaded their quaters firing and burning houses without help from security agents even though they sent distress calls to soldiers and other security agents in the town.
Alhaji Ladan alleged that men in military uniform who they thought were Soldiers and were supposed to come to their rescue, were aiding the attackers in killing and burning their houses.
“We were awaken by gun fire from four directions into our area and the attackers chanting to hell with tribunal ruling, to hell with Aisha, we would kill you all” Alhaji Ladan said. He further stated that Jalingo Police Command that promised to send its men to the area have not done so up till the time New Nigerian spoke with him.
The State Chairman of APC Alhaji Hassan Ardo said they have written to the state Police Commissioner over the plan attack in Wukari weeks ago and no action was taken. He alleged that reports he received from Wukari revealed that there were fake soldiers in Wukari and they were killing people.
He called on the Army Headquarters and the Federal Government to take action immediately and also investigate the killings in Wukari.
Meanwhile the Public Relation Officer of Taraba Police Command DSP Joseph Kwaji could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone line was switched off when our reporter called him.
Wukari town and other parts of Southern Taraba suffered religious and ethnic crisis which consumed hundred of innocent souls over the years.
