15,000 Kaduna Farmers Attract $40m Finances In 2 Years – FTF Agribusiness Manager

Within the last two years, no fewer than 15,000 farmers in Kaduna State have benefitted from financial boost of over $40m dollars to improve value chain in five different crops.
Kaduna State Agribusiness Manager, Feed The Future (FTF) NIgeria Agribusiness Investment Activity, Opeoluwa Fayomi disclosed this while  highlighting  engagements in the state, since the process started in 2020 at the Stakeholders Engagement on the Kaduna State Contract Farming Policy held at Bafra Hotel Kaduna on Thursday February 17, 2022, in collaboration with the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture.
“Between 2019 to now, we have been able to get them over $40m dollars of finance,” she said.
She explained that they work with the agribusiness all year round. 
“Although not all of them are keen in going to get finances, what some want is input and we linked such businesses together with those they can get it from,” she added.

She said they have packaged farmers within that period to now, that has granted them easier access to finance.
The Kaduna State Agribusiness Manager said that within the period under review, they have been doing a lot of capacity building and several training.
She said it has been a pleasant experience in Kaduna State, working on five value chain crops.
“We have been able to work with about 15,000 farmers and SMEs
“We leveraged opportunities of number of agribusinesses firms in the state and it provided us opportunities to work with the agribusiness in giving us assess to large numbers of farmers,” she informed.
According to her, it is a delight to have key stakeholders at the engagement.
