12 Events Lined Up As NUSSA Games Opens In Kaduna

Twelve events are being competed for in the 12th edition of the Nigerian Universities Staff Sports Association (NUSSA) Games 2016 as it opens at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Saturday.
The events are athletics, basketball, badminton, chess, darts, draught, football and golf.
Others are novelty walking event, scrabble, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.
In the colourful opening ceremony, Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu was on the podium to take the official salute as participating institution marched past.
The ceremony witnessed presence of several dignitaries, including the Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, represented by Director, Grassroots Sports Development, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Ademola Are.
Also spotted at the event were National Executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), led by its President, Hon. Honour Sirawoo.
The Zonal Coordinator, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, North West Zone, Alhaji Bode Durotoye and Kaduna SWAN Chairman, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin.
The opening match which was highly enterprising, featured football teams from the hosts, NOUN and team from the Kano State University of Science and Technology.
The competition is expected to be declared closed on September 16 also at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, where medals would be presented to the winners.
