A case between Commissioner of Police and Alh Abubakar Iliyasu (Bright) in defamation of character has been adjourned to 23 March 2017 for the commencement of the defence by the accused person.
Alh. Bright was standing trial under section 392 cpc for the defamation of character to one Alh. Salisu Yusuf (Shaka) before Chief Magistrate Awwal Musa at Chediya GRA Zaria.
The Defence Lawyer Barrister Abdullahi Abdullahi Mohammed applied for the adjournment on the ground that he was yet to discuss with his witnesses before appearing in court.
Replying to the application, the prosecuting officer, a Senior State Counsel Barrister Alex Aku accepted the request and the date fixed.
Chief Magistrate Awwal Musa said court has accepted the date 23 March 2017 for the defence hearing and the accused person will continue to enjoyed the bail already in place.
