Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF), has described the armed bandits attack in Birane Village, Zurmi Local Government area which led to the death of more the 33 people as callous and barbaric.
The northern governors delegation who were in Zurmi Local Government Area to commiserate and condole with the people and state government lamented the continued blood letting in the state.
Chairman of the forum and Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima who led the delegation said the forum was bitterly touched by the continued loss of lives and property in all parts of the the north and the country at large.
Shettima prayed to Allah to grant those who lost their lives Aljannah and also prayed for the quick recovery of those who sustained injuries.
Responding on behalf of the families of the victims, the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Zurmi thanked the governors’ entourage for the concern and called on them to synergies towards fighting armed banditry and cattle rustling in the north.
Earlier, governor Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar while receiving the delegation at Zurmi town, said he had directed security agencies in the state to immediately fish out the perpetrators.
He also urged the security agencies to put a stop to further attacks in all parts of the state.
Yari directed “Damage Assessment and Relief Committee ” headed by Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly to ensure that palliatives measures are immediately taken to alleviate the suffering of the families of victims and those who sustained injuries.
Those in the entourage were, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nassarwa state, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state.
