Economic  activities were completely paralysed on Wednesday as the Kaduna State Government arraigned  leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky at a Kaduna State High Court.

Kaduna metropolis central business  district  was completely on lockdown as pedestrian and vehicular movements were completely restricted.

Heavily armed combined security personnel mounted road  blocks on major roads and streets leading to the court premises were effectively sealed.

Banks,  schools,  shops and even the central market were all deserted,  with all the premises under lock.

On the Ahmadu Bello Way axis,  a long stretch  from  the Lagos street roundabout to the NEPA roundabout was on lock down.

Similarly,  on Independence  Way,  the stretch from Police College Roundabout to Waff Road junction was cordoned off.

Link roads to the court,  including  Bida Road,  Ibrahim Taiwo Road.

Counsel to the accused,  Maxwell Kyon said that they are optimistic that on the next hearing,  the bail  application filed would be granted by the court.

He said the application which was filed about a month  ago,  suffered delays  because they got the reply from the government  on night of Tuesday July  10, 2018.

On why they are optimistic,  he said they are hopeful that based on the health  conditions of Sheikh  Zakzaky and his wife.

Solicitor  General  and Permanent  Secretary  Ministry of  Justice Kaduna  State, Chris Umar said that the case was adjourned  because they were unable to  serve the third accused, Sheikh  Yakubu Yahaya  Katsina and fourth, Dr  Sanusi Abdulkadir Kano.

Case was adjourned to August  2, 2018.
