Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has said that his administration has cleared outstanding salaries of civil servants and that the government no longer owes any worker.

Al-Makura disclosed this in Lafia, shortly after he received the report of the committee setup to investigate activities of three state-owned tertiary institutions.

The governor commended organized labour leaders in the state for enhancing industrial harmony and for their commitment towards the uplifting the state.

The chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Abdullahi Adeka, also confirmed that workers had been paid.
His words, “but workers who went on strike and government applied the no-work, no-pay policy are still being owed two months’ salaries.
“We discussed the matter with the governor and he pledged to look into it whenever funds are available”, he said.
