Affirming its leading role as a telecommunications regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will remain committed in protecting the interest of telecoms subscribers.
Team Leader to the NCC Tennis Cup in Kaduna, Yusuf Abubakar Argungu gave the assurance while fielding questions from venue of the fourth edition in Kaduna on Saturday October 13, 2018.
He said in view of their impressive performance, they were crowned as Best Regulators of Telecoms in Africa recently.
“We are living up to our responsibilities as a telecommunications regulator. NCC as a regulator, recently were best regulator of telecoms in Africa. It is not a mean achievement,” he said.
Responding on how they are tackling the ugly issue of drop calls, he said that though the occurrence is on a decline, as a result of improved technology, they ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are met.
“So many factors responsible for drop calls. In rainy season, there was windstorm so in some places, the stations flooded because of the windstorm.
“We have KPI for the operators and NCC ensuring that KPI’s are met,” he said.
On the Tennis Cup, he said there are 12 teams across six geo political zones of the federation participating.
“There is a prize for the winners as a motivation. The main aim is to encourage youth and motivate them,” he added.
On his advice to Nigerians, he charged all to be patriotic, law abiding and proud of the nation.
As at time of filing this report, Team Ofikwu was leading their opponents, Team Simon Bako Lalong.
They are the two teams participating at the Kaduna venue. Other teams are playing at locations scattered across the country.
