Pro Government protesters were at Government House on Friday to express their  support for government’s policies and programmes.

The chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC), North West  Zone,  Alhaji Ibrahim Garkuwa Babuga while addressing the supporters said the state government led by Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai will transform the educational sector.

“He has resolved in determination to protect the future of the children of the poor,” he said.

He commended all the fair minded parents and other supporters of the reforms in the education sector who came out in their thousands on Friday to register their support.

Meanwhile, the new Commissioner of Education, Alhaji  Jafari Sani, said the state government was committed to acting to strengthen public education, and is determined to give quality education to sons and daughters in the state.

According to him, there’s no going back in the decision of disengagement of unqualified teachers in the state.

He expressed that the state government has embarked  on improving infrastructure and facilities of education, which has come to stay in the state.

It would be recalled that Governor  Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai said, “We can be the best if we do not relent in reforming our schools, under no circumstance would we subjugate the future of the 2m pupils in public primary schools, and those coming after them, to the interests of unqualified teachers.

“We intend to pay teachers higher than normal civil service salaries because we believe in education.

“We believe it is the ladder that will provide social mobility as it has done in my life, and that of the Deputy Governor and many of us in the Kaduna State government have enjoyed the benefit of decent public education.

“We will not be blackmailed. We will not be intimidated. No amount of strikes or protests will make us change our position on this matter”.

“We are not going to compromise on the quality of the teacher, we intend to attract the best and brightest people to the teaching profession”.

The pro government protesters came out  in a protest to express their support for the state government to counter the demonstrations from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in collaboration with National Unions of Teachers (NUT) on Thursday to government house against  disengagement of unqualified teachers in the state.

The protesters were chanting songs “No amount of strikes or protests will make us change our position on education reforms”.

The protest was peaceful as security agencies were at the venue to secure  lives and property.
