The Chief Priest of oil rich Ugborodo Community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Priest, Mr. Benson Dube Omadeli, the Olaja-Orori on Thursday February 1 said he is not a betrayal to his tribe, the Itsekiri nation with his visit to the 26th Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM. Oboro Gbaraun Aketekpe Agadagba I stressing that it was to execute his constitutional rights.
Omadeli made the assertion in the Whatsapp platform of the Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) on Thursday.
Reacting to criticisms after his visit of which photographs were also published in a national newspaper, Omadeli noted that as a custodian of the Ugborodo people, he is mandated to protect the interests of his people.
“Good Day to all sons and daughters of Ugborodo Kingdom. I wish to inform the public that I Benson Dube Omadeli The Olaja-Orori Of Ugborodo Kingdom is not in anyway a betrayal to my tribe “ITSEKIRI”.
“I Benson Dube Omadeli for the past 20years on the throne of my Fathers have been quiet while I allow the Chiefs (thief’s) and leaders (looters) of our beloved tribe to milk and drain the wealth of my community with the hope that someday the palace will come to his senses and call them to order.
“I want to make it clear that from the era of my Fathers Ugborodo People have not and will never be represented in the palace in anyway and yet 80% of the palace wealth is been milked from Ugborodo Kingdom.
“My visit to the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom is not to enslave my people, but to execute my constitutional right.
“The revolution in USSR, South Africa, Libya any other countries in the would was as a”.
With the development, it is clear that oil rich Ugborodo Community has seceded from of Warri Kingdom going by the comments of the Ugborodo Community Chief Priest.
An Itsekiri youth,Amas David Amojor raised alarm over a grand plan by some politicians to dethrone the Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM. Ogiame Ikenwoli.
Amojor alleged that the government is making the moves because it felt the Olu of Warri Kingdom is the one purportedly fuelling the crisis in oil rich Ugborodo Community.
He also warned that necessary actions be taken to stop the dethronement.
Amojor noted that the development is causing serious acrimony within the Itsekiris stressing that the Delta State Government is using the Ijaws of Gbaramatu to perfect the dirty plans before 2019.
It was learnt that, the Olu’s predicaments with the “political powers that be” started when he conferred the Ologbotsere title on Chief Ayiri Emami against the wishes of the people especially when the Delta State Government was opposed to it.
Contacted on the matter, the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Government, Mr. Ehiedu Charles Aniagwu did not comment as he did not pick phone calls nor respond to messages sent to him via Whatsapp.
The conferment of the Ologbotsere title on Chief Ayiri Emami allegedly made some prominent chiefs of the palace to drop their beads in addition to shunning some activities in the palace.
In the same national newspaper on Wednesday, a legal practitioner berated the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom,Chief Ayiri Emami and wondered why the revered king would consider him for the title.
