A veteran journalist and former Political Editor of New Nigerian Newspapers, Alhaji Tajudeen A. Tijjani has said that recent happenings with respect to the reinstatement of Executive Secretary of NHIS Prof. Usman Yusuf  by a Presidential fiat points to the fact that those hounded into courts for various trials are those who have no godfather anywhere to stop their trial.

Tijani who expressed this in a statement he personally signed and made available in Kaduna on Friday, said the allegations against the reinstated NHIS boss are so weighty that should not be brushed aside for any reasons whatsoever.

“Until justice is done , the case of Professor Usman Yusuf would continue to hang on the neck of this administration. He must be called to book with all his accomplices and made to face the law.

“The case in point is the suspension of a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) one Professor Usman Yusuf who has boasted that he is untouchable because he hailed from the President village” 99,he stated.

Tijjani noted that  the suspended Executive Secretary of NHIS was found guilty by a panel of enquiry set up by the mother ministry and the recommendations of the panel upheld.

“To the surprise of all Nigerians who believed in President Buhari ‘s zeal and commitment to confront corruption and corrupt practices in our society, the suspended Executive Secretary of NHIS was reinstated by a Presidential fiat.

“This is an indictment on the posture of this administration that beat his chest as fair and just. Now that the presidency has reportedly said that the professor can be tried by any anti-graft agency, Professor Usman Yusuf should remain suspended until his case before a competent Court is disposed off. The suspended Executive Secretary cannot remain sitting on that chair where he may temper with all facts needed about the allegations made against him. How can a man who insulted a Cabinet Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria be treated with kid gloves?

“Until the Professor is ask to stay clear of the NHIS Office and his case is finally completed, this administration cannot be taken serious on his fight against corruption by right thinking Nigerians and many others across the world”, he added.

He however noted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last three years had received global recognition as one with zero tolerance for corruption. It has shown that to the whole world when those who believed they are untouchable were facing trial on many alleged misdeeds.
