National President of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, (UIAA) , Dr. Kemi Emina has hinted that the already completed 54-bedroom postgraduate hostel is to be commission by the Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State and handed over to the University this Friday (May 4).
Dr Emina who dropped this hint in Ibadan while speaking with newsmen disclosed that the construction of the hall by the Alumni association was part of the moves by the association to cushion the effects of the shortage of funds by the Federal Government to the Premier University.
Emphasizing that the UIAA has contributed immensely to the development of the Premier University Dr. Emina expressed worry on the stifling the institution of funds by the Federal government, saying, “despite the fact that standard of education is terribly low, UI has been able to maintain its enviable standard.”
Buttressing this, the University of Ibadan Alumni Association President pointed out that there is the need for graduates of the University who are doing excellently in their chosen fields, not forget their alma mater.
On activities lined up for the association’s 60th anniversary, Dr Emina declared that the hall is to be commission by the Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State and thereafter, deliver the 5th National Public Service lecture and the 60th anniversary lecture.
He gave other programmes to include honouring the Anglican Primate, Dr. Nicholas Okoh, JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede; MD/CEO Rainoil, Mr. Gabriel Ogbechie, among others.
