Breakaway faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), United Labour Congress (ULC) Kaduna State Council has completed plans of staging the 2017 Workers Day celebration.

From the invitation which was sighted by our correspondent, ULC has secured the use of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna for the Workers’ Day activities.

The Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai is expected to serve as  the Special Guestof Honour.

The programme which is scheduled for Monday, May 1, has as its theme: ‘Workers In A Recessionary Economy’.
It would be recalled that ULC cited lack of sincerity as one of the reasons it broke up from the NLC.
ULC  Chairman, Kaduna State branch, Comrade Ephraim James at his swearing in  recently, said: “We are fully aware of the challenges that the civil servants in the state are experiencing, especially the irrational decision of the state government to sell out government  the quarters.”
He said they broke out from NLC because they were not focused and sincere and there is a lot of fraud in the state’s NLC.
The new chairman explained that what differentiates them from the NLC is that they are focused and have the interest of their members at heart.
He then assured his members that they are going to work hard to ensure that they get all your benefits.
