Minister of Communications and an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Barrister Adebayo Shittu on Friday advocated revitalization of farm settlement schemes in Oyo and Nigeria as a way of stemming the rising unemployment level in the country.
Featuring on a Radio Programme in Ibadan monitored by the New Nigerian, the Minister declared that the farm settlement scheme when revitalised, all agricultural graduates in Nigeria should be given farm lands and input to turn around the impending danger likely to consume the country.
Barrister Shittu emphasized that in the days of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, farm settlements were used to ensure the growth and improvement of agriculture, saying,
” if revitalised all graduates of agriculture in Oyo and other states should be given seed money and help them on developing their entrepreneurship skills.”
Commenting on the coming All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Oyo state, Barrister Shittu ruled out his participation in the Oyo State primary if the state insists on adopting indirect primary as against direct primary to allow for level playing ground for all aspirants.
