Barely a day after an ultimatum was issued by the National Association of Kaduna State Students (NAKASS), a faction has stormed the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), disowning the first group and passing a vote of confidence on Governor Nasir el-Rufai-led government.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Yahaya Abdullahi who said he is the president of NAKASS, said that contrary to the insinuations of the first group, said that the state government has since the last two months, approved payment of scholarship.
“” The news came to us as a shock, as the said group do not even know the status of the scholarship they referred to. However, as we are speaking to you right now, the state government has since last two months approved the payment of the local scholarship, the release of the funds and currently the scholarship board is working for the sorting and other processes for the awardees which we hope, in few weeks beneficiaries will receive their alert,” they said.
The group said the leadership of the association informed the students and general public henceforth, that any formal communication from the association, will be communicated through the president.
“Hence, Jeremiah Tisan Gwaza stands suspended indefinitely for breaching the supreme constitution of NAKASS as provided. We are of the opinion that all those who for their selfish interest or reasons to use the name of the association in order to make claims that are not of the student’s interest should avoid that, as the association will not take it lightly with any student or member of the public who impersonates or ridicules the image of the association,” it added.
The group therefore, appealed to the Kaduna State Government and other relevant agencies saddled with the responsibility of the local scholarship to fast track the payment.
They distanced themselves from the 21 days ultimatum earlier handed out by the faction.
