Two Niger Republic Citizens Arrested For Armed Robbery

Operatives of the Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police have apprehended two nationals of Niger Republic in Lagos over alleged armed robbery.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Ahmadu, 29 years and Seidu Issa 22 years were alleged to be members of a syndicate that have robbed traders and customers at different times within Mandillas, Tinubu markets in Lagos Island and Oyingbo areas of Lagos.
Our correspondent gathered that luck however ran against them when they were arrested by a patrol team of “D” ops of the Zonal Command while dispossessing a trader identified simply as Austines of his belongings.
The image maker of the command, CSP. Dolapo Badmus, who paraded the suspects at the command’s headquarter at Onikan Lagos, said the suspects were nabbed at Tinubu Market on Lagos Island by the operatives on 22nd May. 2018 at about 1.31pm.
Badmus disclosed that investigation revealed that the suspects had also robbed one Kenneth Obieze of the sum of N4.2 Million, one i- phone, one Samsung phone and a Nokia phone on 28th May, 2018.
She added that one revolver pistol and one Jack knife were recovered from the suspects as at the time of the arrest.
Further, Badmus said effort is being intensified to arrest the leader of the syndicate now at large.
However, the suspects denied the allegation, saying they were lured into the market for a job by a now at large unknown person on the day of the arrest.
Claiming that they work as goods carriers in the markets, the suspects said it was the run away unidentified person that dropped the bag for which they were alleged to have stolen.
But one of the suspects, Seidu Issa confessed to have stolen 300 pieces of wrist watch at Mandillas market in 2015, which he sold for N1.2Million to one Adisa Wasiu, who was also paraded.
