Turn around Nigeria’s local refineries now – Safaudeen tells FG
By; Bayo Akamo, Ibadan.
Safaudeen In Islam Worldwide Tuesday advised Federal Government to, without wasting time, turn around all the nation’s local refineries to end the prolonged fuel scarcity problem in the country.
.
The body in a communiqué issued in Ibadan and made available to journalists at the end of its 4th Quarterly Council meeting, asked the Federal Government to “really address the subsidy need on fuel importation”
According to the body, in the communiqué jointly signed by Engineer B. S. Aderinto, Chairman Drafting Committee and the Spiritual Head Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke, there is the urgent need for the government to put in place, every instrument for turning around our refineries in the country.
“The council frowned seriously at the recurring fuel scarcity in the nation and the attendant hiking in pump prices. This problem was observed to stem from inability of the Federal Government to really address the subsidy need on fuel importation,” it said.
Safaudeen in Islam added that “therefore, government should put in place every instrument for turning around our local refineries and should also encourage local participation of the private sector on local refining of fuel”.
The body lauded President Muhammadu Buhari over the choice of his Ministers and the expedient manner of the legislature in screening the ministerial list which  “are clear indicators of maturity”.
Describing the Ministers as square pegs in square holes, the Safaudeen in Islam urged the new appointees not to let down the nation by exhibiting  high sense of patriotism and by living above board.
Also, the body frowned at the recent activities of Boko Haram members saying, “the Council noted with pleasure, that the wave of Boko Haram insurgency appears to be comparatively dwindling. This might not be unconnected with conscious efforts on the part of the Government. The Federal, State and Local tiers are therefore charged to continue to give priority to security of lives and properties and entrenching a lasting peace in their environments”
Commending President Buhari on his pronouncement of N5000 monthly allowance for 25 million Nigerian youths, the body said “this was a clear indication of the sensitivity of Mr. President to the intractable pace of unemployment in the nation.
