The Director-General Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Major-General Bamidele Ogunkale has said that the recent collaboration between the DICON and Federal University of Technology Akure is necessary for industrial growth and technology.
He stated this during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the DICON and Federal University of Akure saying that it is noted for its educational standard especially in the area of science and technology over the years.
“With the signing of this MOU, I hope we can define over relationship or collaboration in specific term in order to realize what constitutes our parties. Our areas of convergence and line of action have been also clearly expressed and lam highly optimistic we can take the MOU to the next level”.
He said that the passion for national development both parties can attain the lofty goal of repositioning the nation to an industrialized nation in line with international best practices, pointing out that the upgrading of laboratory especially dedicated to metallurgical and material testing respectively are about 90 percent completed with state of the art equipment being installed which would be one of the best in the African continent.
Earlier, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor PG Oguntunde said that the university had about 185 professors and thousands of post graduates holders and had been rated as the best among other universities of technology in Nigeria.
He also said that all their department offering various science and technology courses have been fully accredited by the National University Commission and that the collaboration with DICON would no doubt be beneficial to both parties.
