Following the growing tension that characterised the delay in the collation and declaration of the last Saturday’s governorship election result in the state, Governor Darius Ishaku on Monday imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
This was contained in a press statement issued in Jalingo and signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Alh. Hassan Mijinyawa
According to the statement, the curfew would run from 6Pm to 6am beginning from today, March 11, 2019 till further notice.
The Curfew according to the statement will however, exempts some INEC officials, key agents of political parties and observers involved in collation of elections results.
The Governor in the statement enjoined the people of the State to continue to be law abiding even as he urged security agencies to ensure strict compliance to curfew.
At the time of filing this report eight local government were collated with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winning in seven of the eight local government areas so far declared.
The PDP won in Takum, Yorro, Zing, Ardo-Kola, Lau, Gashaka and Ussa, while the APC won in Gassol local government.
