Only people who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of sports and sportsmen and women who have distinguished themselves in the field are honoured with awards from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
Chairman of SWAN Kaduna Chapter, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin expressed this on Thursday when an Award of Excellence was presented to the President of MicroManna Ltd, Mr. Chima Nnaedozie at the corporate head office of the company.
“We do not sell awards of SWAN, but only present it to those that deserve it. We have keenly observed how you have contributed immensely to the development of sports.
“An outstanding support was one that he contributed in kitting the football team of the New Nigerian Newspapers,” he added.
He explained that the 2017 award ceremony which was held as part of the SWAN WEEK attracted several dignitaries, but apologised to him for late notification, which made him not to attend.
In his response, Mr. Nnaedozie thanked SWAN for the honour.
He said the award will spur him on to contributing more to sports development.
The MicroManna president said that whatever they contributed to sports, was part of their corporate social responsibility.
“We are socially responsible and we contribute in interventions whenever we can in the environment where we are operating,” he added.
