Strike: Operational Activities Paralysed At ABUTH Shika

Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole
Operational activities at the famous Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Shika, Zaria have been paralyzed following the strike action embarked by the health workers nationwide.
With this development, only medical doctors were on duty receiving few patient with serious sickness, while patient on emergency ward and.  other special ward were taken away to private Hospitals and clinics by their families for the continuation of treatment since the only hope
ABUTH is in delima since before the strike began.
Our correspondent who visited the Hospital reports that virtually all
essential services in ABUTH has been stopped and there is no sign of hope to bring the lost glory to the famous ABUTH in term of
professionalism on and health related matters in Nigeria not in
Northern Nigeria.
The most disturbing issue is in the whole ABUTH, there is no single
scanning machine working, also the oxygen machine is no where to be found in the hospital in the case of emergency.
With the promulgation of the Teaching Hospital decree number 10 on the 1st January 1985, ABUTH become legally and operationally separated from Ahmadu Bello University, despite the development, they continue
to have a close association and harmonious working relationship with the University.
Presently, ABUTH has failed to provide a brand range of tertiary
services to meet fee healthcare needs of people from the catchments area and the country at large.
All efforts to get the Chief Medical Director of ABUTH Professor
Lawal Khalid proved abortive as he could not be reach even on this mobile phone for his comment on the situation.
