Strike: Gov Ajimobi is ready to listen on Oyo industrial crisis – Reps Member

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Hon Abiodun Awoleye said Governor Abiola Ajimobi is ready for an end to the prolonged industrial crisis rocking Oyo State.
Honourable Awoleye stated this in Ibadan at the commissioning of his constituency projects, distribution of empowerment tools, donation of cash rewards and the decamping of some politicians into the APC held at Housing Estate Field Bodija.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker pointed out that with the readiness of Governor Ajimobi towards finding a lasting solution to the industrial crisis in the state, labour leaders in Oyo State on their part should be ready to compliment the gesture.
Specifically, the lawmaker urged both the striking civil servants and labour leaders in the state to embrace dialogue and negotiations with the state government as a way of ending the industrial crisis.
Hon. Awoleye maintained that with the Oyo state government inviting the labour unions  for a dialogue, there is the hope of a final solution to the industrial crisis, saying, “may I use this opportunity to appeal to the civil servants in the state to please for the interest of our people resume work”.
“The Labour should embrace dialogue and negotiations with the government in solving the lingering issue. The state government has invited them for a dialogue which I believe would yield positive results. The Labour leaders should embrace dialogue. The governor is ready to listen,” he said.
Commenting on the programme, he disclosed that the empowerment was aimed at ensuring that the people have working tools with which to engage in one business or the other and to remind them of the need “to embrace technical and skill jobs instead of looking for white collar jobs”.
Emphasizing that “vocational jobs are booming in developed countries because they believe in their skills and what they can offer” Hon Awoleye said, “we should always think of what we can use our skills, talents and hand to do instead of white collar jobs at all times”.
“The items I am distributing such as grinding machines, sewing machines, deep freezers, motorcycles and donation of cash rewards to 250 members of Ibadan North federal constituency where I currently represent, are also in line with my electoral promises”.
Speaking further, the lawmaker stressed that the first item on his political agenda “is to innovatively contribute to issues of national importance by moving motions and initiate laws that would have direct and positive impact on the people,” saying,“ I have sponsored many bills”.
“The sponsored bills include (i) A bill for an act to amend the national Population Commission Act, (ii) A bill for an act to amend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (NPC), (iii) A bill for an act to amend the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria for the creation of state and effective community Policing, (iv) A bill for an act to provide for the registration of orphanage homes.
Bills underway/bills awaiting first reading; (i) A bill for an act to establish office of the Surgeon General of the Federation,
(ii) A bill for an act to control the use of drones in Nigeria, (iii) A bill for an act to provide for warranty on products”.
Hon Awoleye gave the list of the people-oriented projects initiated by him and commissioned to include a model Public toilet at Oke-Oloro in Ward II, model Heath Centre at Mokola in Ward 9, extension of the Aduloju Heath Centre Bodija in Ward 12, extension of Aduloju Health Centre, Aduloju Bodija in ward 12,
security post for members of NSCDC at Morayo, Bodija also in Ward 12, 500 KVA Transformer at Adeyi in Ward 10,
Motorized borehole at Ashi in ward 5, and motorised borehole at Atenda in ward 4 .
Welcoming the decampees to APC, the lawmaker said “on behalf of the executive Governor of Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, we promised you equal opportunities in APC, the party that has the interest of the people at heart”.
